Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re looking for freedom and flexibility, or you want to amplify your current income, per diem shifts with My Health Gig are a great option. Here are some frequently asked questions to help you decide if working per diem is right for you.

Why should I consider working per diem with MHG?

Per diem allows you to work on your own terms while earning competitive compensation. As a “gig” healthcare worker, you’ll have the opportunity to earn great pay, enjoy an excellent work-life balance, gain valuable experience, and explore various clinical settings.

What are the experience requirements?

All per diem positions require at least 1 year of experience since no training and limited unit orientation is offered. Some facilities may require 2 years of experience.

What are the location requirements?

To work per diem with us, you must reside within 2 hours of the facility. The facilities we work with can confirm shifts 2 hours before the start time and we want to make sure you have enough time to get to your shift. However, some facilities will also require you to be within 50 miles.

Can I be onboarded with and work with more than one facility?

Yes! Working per diem allows you to grow your resume at multiple locations to maximize your career growth. Clearance at multiple facilities is highly encouraged.

Can I work per diem with MHG in addition to my current travel assignment?

Yes, as long as you’ll be in a geographic area for at least two months after you are onboarded with MHG, and can provide at least 4 days of availability per month.

How long does the application and credentialing process take?

Applying and onboarding with MHG can be done 100% within the app, and candidates can be cleared within 2-3 week’s time, or sooner*. We have experienced credentialing analysts ready to support your onboarding process. *We offer expedited onboarding for any clinicians who are working with My Health Gig’s sister company, Lead Health.

Is there a minimum monthly shift requirement?

We prefer that you provide a minimum of 4 days of availability per month. If something comes up and you can’t provide the necessary availability, we understand and ask that you let our staffing team know. If you go 90 days without a shift, you’ll be automatically inactivated.

Am I treated as a W-2 employee or a 1099 contractor with My Health Gig?

My Health Gig provides W-2 wages to all per diem workers, with all federal and State taxes withheld. This eliminates any risk of misclassification and audit for our providers.

Does MHG provide health or other benefits?

Employees that work with MHG 30+ hours per week will be eligible for cost-effective employee benefit programs. Plan offerings include various medical, dental, vision, short-term disability, and life insurance options.

How and when do I get paid?

Once your work hours are verified by the client, you’ll be eligible for pay via direct deposit. MHG provides weekly pay on Wednesdays, and daily pay for any employees that will need to get paid sooner than the following Wednesday. Employees will be eligible for daily pay after their 5th shifts with MHG.
